At the time we worked together, Navreen was a high school student in Minnesota whose passions spanned sports, STEM, and advocacy. A volleyball player, violinist, and proud member of the Indian diaspora, Navreen brought a thoughtful, personal lens to her academic work—driven by curiosity about gender equity in athletics across South Asia.
Her research focused on the cultural and social challenges facing women in volleyball in India and Pakistan. Together, we shaped that interest into a compelling research paper, and I supported her in identifying the right platform to share it.
Her work, “Exploring Gender Equity in Volleyball Across South Asia: A Cultural and Social Analysis,” was accepted for presentation at the 2024 International Women’s Conference, where she contributed to global conversations on gender justice and inclusion in sport—marking an impressive early step in her path as a researcher and advocate.
